Strengthening Alliance Ties to the ADA

In addition to meeting at Conference in the Spring, the Alliance also gathers its members during Convention in the Fall. Typically this meeting is held at the same time as the American Dental Association (ADA) so that Alliance members can attend while their spouses are at the ADA meeting.

Convention includes meetings for the Board of Directors, various committees, and Caucus and Reference Committee hearings leading up to the House of Delegates, or annual business meeting.

Convention is also time for the Alliance to recognize its members through the Thelma J. Neff Awards Luncheon and the AADA/ADPAC Member Project Awards Brunch.

Some event highlights of Convention 2010:

• "Decorate your sunglasses!" for the Member Project Awards (MPA) breakfast. Have fun wearing your personally embellished shades. The theme for the breakfast is "AADA Rays of Sunshine" with palm trees and sunshine for decorations. There will be no sunglasses parade, but those attending will vote on their favorite sunglasses. The ballots will be collected during the breakfast and there will be prizes for the top three winners at the end of the program. [The event is co-sponsored by the American Dental Political Action Committee (ADPAC) and by Johnson & Johnson, Healthcare Products, Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc.]

• Thelma J. Neff Distinguished Service Awards Luncheon (The event is sponsored by Henry Schein, Inc.)

• Presidents' Reception for Incoming President Debbie Preece and Outgoing President Carol Reitz (The event is sponsored by Alaska Dental Society, Alliance of the Brevard County Dental Society, Alliance of the Oklahoma Dental Association, Alliance of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, Alliance of the Utah Dental Association, Alliance of the Washington State Dental Association)
